Congreso Nomade in Argentina was a Wonderful Photographer’s Experience.

2024 has truly been the incredible year for me to diligently educate myself, explore and try new things, and engage in networking opportunities in different ways, all beyond my immediate location. During this journey, I have had the privilege to meet and connect with amazingly talented photographers from all around the globe, each bringing their unique perspectives and experiences to the table!

Last May, while I was at the Aftershoot Retreat in the breathtaking landscapes of Peru, I met Maxi Oviedo, an incredibly talented Argentine photographer. Along the journey to Ollantaytambo, he excitedly shared with me a captivating video of Congreso Nomade. I was utterly in awe; the dynamics of the video combined with the vibrant vibe it conveyed were just so cool. Maxi then took the time to tell me a little more about this remarkable Congreso. It stands out as the only charity Congress for photographers and videographers in the entire world. Each year, Congreso Nomade selects a different institution to support and strives to help them bring awareness to their important cause.

I remembered that video and thought, If I get the chance, I’ll go! A month later, talented photographer Maydeline Ines announced she would be presenting at Congreso Nomade. I got excited and shared this with my photographer friends, and Kristeen Joanna was quick to join. That was my cue! I also told my son Xavier, and he was thrilled. After months of planning, we went to Buenos Aires, Argentina!

Thanks to Delfi Pabon, we had the incredible opportunity to explore the vibrant city of Buenos Aires alongside a knowledgeable local, and we absolutely loved every moment of it! We ventured all over the city, visiting iconic neighborhoods and attractions such as Recoleta, Palermo, the stunning Ateneo Grand Splendid, the serene Jardin Japones, the bustling Puerto Madero, and the picturesque Puente de la Mujer. La Boca, in particular, captured my heart— I loveeeee it there! We wandered through El Caminito, admired the grandeur of El Obelisco, marveled at the historic Casa Rosada, and reveled in the lively atmosphere of the Feria San Telmo, discovering even more hidden gems along the way. It was truly an amazing experience!

After a few days in Buenos Aires, we took a bus to San Nicolas de los Arroyos for Congreso Nomade.

Nomade was different, and San Nicolas was a tiny but incredibly charming little town. The photographers at the Congreso were not only talented but also genuinely approachable and nice, creating a warm atmosphere. I observed various innovative ways to approach photography, manage businesses, and share unique perspectives within the industry. The Argentineans were surprisingly adept at partying; they attended the conferences with enthusiasm and danced until sunrise as if it were a normal part of their routine.

Why do I do this? Because I have learned that it truly doesn't matter how many years you have been in business, or how old you may be; there are always endless opportunities for growth and development. Changing your environment, testing your limits, and seeing and embracing different perspectives are always beneficial and enriching experiences. Photography is not just a profession; it is an art form, a method of self-expression, a journey into creativity, and a way of seeing reality through your very own unique perspective and truly enjoying that vision. Gracias Congreso Nomade, gracias Argentina!
